Capture “Homegrown Pride” and stand a chance to win Canon cameras

Photo Freedom is calling on aspiring photographers to capture the essence of “Homegrown Pride” in pictures to stand a chance of winning one of three Canon cameras. The cameras, sponsored by Canon South Africa, include a CANON PowerShot G7X Mark II, a CANON EOS M5 and a CANON EOS 80D. Entries to the competition open on 1 August 2018 and close on 30 September at midnight.

The Photo Freedom Photography Competition is open to novice and professional photographers alike – in fact anyone with a passion for photography and homegrown treasures can enter. Craig Stevens, owner of Photo Freedom, says: “This is a chance to showcase your homegrown pride; be it a landscape, wildlife, people or food that speaks to the heart of being a South African. We are looking for authentically South African stories told in pictures. Tell us what makes you proud.”

Genuineness is critical. Photographers must only submit photos that they themselves have taken. These can be shot with a cell phone, digital compact camera or DSLR up to or equivalent of a CANON 800D. Photographers can submit up to five photos to the competition. Another stipulation is that the photos must have been shot in 2018.

There are three competition categories: Cell phone category to stand a chance to win the CANON G7X MKII camera; the Compact digital camera category to win a CANON EOS M5 body with an EFM 15-45MM lens, and the DSLR category, with the CANON EOS 80D body with an EFS 18-135MM IS USM lens being the grand prize.

Enter now by emailing your photo to enter@photofreedom.co.za. Each photo should not exceed 3 megs each. State in the subject line which competition category the submission is for.

The panel of judges will whittle down the entries to 30 finalists who will be announced on 5 October. These will be printed and exhibited at Photo Freedom Durban North and Ballito. Winners will be announced on 18 October.
