RHODESIAN Association of South Africa held its annual Salsa and Vellies get together at the Musketeers Club in Westville on Sunday, 3 July.

According to Eddie De Beer, one of the committee members, the event is a celebration where members have fun with the vellie drinking competition. The drinks are poured into Rhodesian Vellies – Veldskoens (shoes) and drunk down as quickly as possible and then the vellie is placed upside down on your head when it is empty.The completion carries a Floating Trophy for both men and women which is a copper coated child’s vellie. Skippy Michell won the men’s trophy.
