Meet Dr Wandile Langazana, Life Westville Hospital
Preventative healthcare and simple lifestyle changes can make a meaningful difference in one's life, says Dr Langazana.
With a passion for improving lives through personalised medical care, specialist physician Dr Wandile Langazana brings his experience and patient-centred approach to Life Westville Hospital.
Having established his consulting rooms at Life Westville Hospital in June 2026, Dr Langazana is committed to providing comprehensive medical care, with a particular interest in cardiopulmonary diseases and lifestyle-related health conditions.
His medical journey began at UKZN in 2012, followed by his internship and experience working at a tertiary hospital. He pursued further specialist training in 2017 and completed his Fellowship through the College of Physicians in 2021.
After serving in the public healthcare sector, he transitioned into private practice in Durban in 2023 before establishing himself as an independent specialist in 2025.
Dr Langazana’s particular interest in heart and lung conditions stems from the significant health challenges affecting communities across KwaZulu-Natal, including tuberculosis, cardiovascular disease and heart attacks.
He believes preventative healthcare plays an essential role in reducing complications and improving patients’ long-term quality of life. Simple lifestyle changes, including healthier eating habits, regular physical activity and routine health screenings, can make a meaningful difference. He encourages individuals to monitor important health indicators such as blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol.
For Dr Langazana, choosing Life Westville Hospital was also about providing patients with accessible, comprehensive care. The hospital’s central location, modern diagnostic technology and range of medical specialists support a collaborative approach to treatment.
His philosophy centres on understanding each patient as an individual, taking their personal circumstances, lifestyle and medical needs into consideration before recommending treatment.
He believes that effective communication, thorough investigations and carefully tailored treatment plans are fundamental to delivering quality healthcare without placing unnecessary burdens on patients.
Above all, Dr Langazana encourages the Westville and greater Durban community not to ignore changes in their health or delay seeking medical attention.
His message is simple: Even when symptoms seem minor, seeking medical advice early can make a significant difference.
Through compassionate, holistic care and an emphasis on early detection, Dr Langazana hopes to improve not only the health and quality of life of his patients, but also the well-being of their families and the wider community.
