Locals step it up for cancer awareness
The newly-launched Water Lilly Women's Group fund-raiser saw its supporters walk 5km around Wyebank to raise funds and awareness.
DOZENS of residents recently made their way to the Wyebank Creche for the Water Lilly Women’s Group’s first big fund-raiser, a fun walk.
The organisation’s founder, Ivy Govender, said the money raised would be donated to local organisations that dealt with cancer.
The group was launched in May this year and will host its next big event on Thursday, 9 August at the Wyebank Creche from 2pm to 4.30pm.
Tickets to the event will cost R50 per person and includes a three-course meal.
The guest speakers will be cancer survivors. “We will also be commemorating those who have passed away from the disease,” said Ivy.
To book, donate or sponsor prizes for the event, contact Ivy on 083 279 9046.
