Topstars at their best
The Topstars singing competition for Shoprite Group workers was a showcase of raw talent.
SHOPRITE Group workers sang their hearts out at the Topstars Semi-Finals Road Show at the Durban Royal Hotel on Thursday 1 August.
Topstars is a singing competition benefiting ordinary shop floor workers, and run by the Shoprite Group of Companies, targeting the community of Shoprite workers around Africa. The aim of Topstars was to develop a sense of value in doing a job well, whether it be singing or packing a shelf.
The Topstars Road Show was lucky enough to get Thembi Seete(actress and singer) and Khaya Mthethwa(2012 Idols winner) to be their guest judges of the day. In the judging panel they were headed by well-known artist Mynie Grove, who is also the producer and director of Topstars. Previous winner Jo-ann Daniels was also one of the judges.
Actor Zuko Vanyaza hosted the event and showed a talent for entertaining people with his sense of humour. The competition started off with each of the judges performing for everyone. They were followed by the 12 semi-finalists from the KwaZulu-Natal region as each group or person was given a chance to impress the judges with their performances.
The Topstars 2013 Durban finalist was Sihlangu Zulu from Shoprite Nongoma Town, who wowed the jugdes with his performance. Sihlangu will represent KwaZulu-Natal in the national finals in Cape Town on 5 October, where he eventual Topstars 2013 winner will be chosen.
