Register for granny and grandpa of the year
Registration is open for granny and grandpa of the year 2013

IKAMVALETHU Senior Citizens Club in Klaarwater will host a beauty contest on Monday 16 December for grannies and grandpas and they are calling all senior citizens who would like to be part of this concert to register.
The club is based in Klaarwater, Mariannhill and was started by Thoko Baynes.Ba ynes, who grew up in Klaarwater, said there are a number of disadvantaged and poor elderly people in the area and no one is available to look after them.
“Most of them lost their loved one and some live on their own. Since they are almost unreachable, the Social Welfare Department struggles to bring them help at the most convenient and suitable time. I started this organisation so elderly people can gather and share their experiences.
“We are also trying to build a soup kitchen that will run everyday so that we can be able to feed elderly people living in terrible conditions. We always try to put a smile on their faces which is why we started this contest so that they can feel that they are beautiful and loved,” said Baynes.
The contest has been running for three years and the organisation appeals to companies and individuals who can sponsor this event.
