POP members donate uniforms

KwaCutshwayo pupils advised to work hard and focus on education

WOMEN members of the Durban Public Order Policing based in Mariannhill together with Assupol bought school uniforms for 10 pupils at KwaCutshwayo School.

Colonel Lindile Thwala told KwaCutshwayo pupils that it was important for the children to know that the police were not their enemies.

“We do not arrest people only, inside this police uniform there are women and mothers, who love you as our children and we expect you to feel safe around us and be able to confide in us,” she said.

Thwala advised the children to work hard so that they can pass with good marks and lead a better life.

Cst Wonderboy Nxumalo from Mariannhill SAPS said pupils should report abuse.

“If you are scared to tell your mother, you can tell a teacher at school because they play the role of a parent.

“No one has a right to touch you in an inappropriate manner,” he said.

Nxumalo warned the Grade 7 pupils about the dangers of drug abuse.

“As you are going to high school next year, please focus on studies and stay away from things that will shift your focus on education,” said Nxumalo.
