Artsy doctors keep hope alive
Artistic medical professionals sell their art to raise funds for Focus on iThemba.
THE Hillcrest Private Hospital launched the 2013 KwaZulu-Natal Doctors in Art Exhibition on Wednesday 11 December.
The first KZN Doctors in Art Exhibition was initiated and coordinated in 2007 by Dr Peter Breedt, a local GP practicing in Hillcrest, with a group of eight artists who work in the medical profession.
After a break of three years the artistic medical professionals have returned to exhibit their beautiful paintings, photographs and sculptures.
“The idea behind the project was to showcase the talents and hobbies of the medical professionals, while contributing to a positive cause. Every year the project has grown. In 2007 we started out with eight artists and this year we had 19 artists who exhibited their art,” said Breedt.
Residents are able to view and buy the artwork until Friday 20 December in the hospital’s main reception area.
A portion of the proceeds from all the artwork sold at the exhibit will be donated to Focus on iThemba in Hillcrest.
