Mom targeted by thieves
Another motorist was the victim of a crime along Crompton Street in Pinetown.

WATERFALL resident, Sacha Ormond, was the victim of an attempted robbery at the intersection of Old Main Road and Crompton Street recently.
“I had just dropped my children off at school so it was about 6.45am when the three men tried to rob me. I was busy winding up my window, after I noticed the beggar I usually give a cigarette to wasn’t there, when three men appeared at my driver’s window,” said Ormond.
One man grabbed Ormond by the neck and then yanked at her chain in an attempt to snap it off. The second man tried to remove the key from the ignition while the third man sought to open the driver’s door.
“The one yanking at my chain got it loose and I had a cigarette in my hand at the time and I put it out on his hand. I then grabbed his hand with both of mine to stop him from taking my chain.
I remember yelling that they would not steal from me. The man threw the chain back into the car and all three of them calmly walked away as if nothing had happened,” said Ormond.
She was in a state of shock after the incident and, according to her, one of her friends was sitting in the traffic and witnessed the incident and drove over to help her as soon as he could.
“I am just thankful that my children weren’t in the car when this happened. I just can’t believe that nobody even tried to help me or even hoot to get attention, it is just so sad,” concluded Ormond.
She received a tetanus shot and took antibiotics as one of the men left scratch marks around her neck while he was attempting to steal her chain.
