Captain Courage adventure

The boys enjoyed a day they will never forget.

THE Reach for a Dream Foundation made the dreams of ten boys come true when they headed to Shongweni Dam for an exciting and exhilarating Captain Courage adventure.

On arrival at the dam, the boys were briefed on raft sailing before enjoying a picnic style lunch.

This was the boys’ first raft sailing and abseiling attempt and there was much excited chatter and laughter as they donned their helmets and life jackets and paddled the giant raft to the dam wall. At the dam wall the boys got off the raft and after a short climb were at the top of the dam wall. The facilitators then sat the boys down and explained the next step – abseiling! With adrenalin pumping and loads of giggling, the boys abseiled down the wall two by two. Some were accompanied by the facilitators and others were brave enough to do it alone.

After abseiling, they rafted back to the picnic site where each boy was presented with his Captain Courage medal.
