19 injured in morning collisions

The highway saw a fair share of road accidents on Wednesday morning.

SIXTEEN people were injured after two taxis and a car collided along the P52 in the Botha’s Hill area this morning at around 11.51am.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the roadway obstructed with accident debris and the twisted remains of the vehicles. After triaging the injured they found that two people had sustained serious injuries while fourteen others escaped with minor injuries.

After the injured were stabilised at the scene, paramedics transported them to various hospitals in the area for the care that they required.

Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

In a seperate incident three people were injured after a truck and a bakkie collided head-on along Bridle Road, Kloof this morning at around 10.14am.

Reports from the scene indicate that one man was thrown off the back of one of the vehicles and landed down an embankment on impact.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that two patients were still trapped in the twisted remains of the vehicles. While the Netcare 911 rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to free the injured from the twisted metal medics worked to stabilise the injured at the scene.

After the patients were treated at the scene paramedics transported them to a local hospital for further care.
