Foetus found in shopping centre toilet

Body of a foetus found wrapped in a plastic bag.

THE body of a foetus discovered by tenants of Norlane Centre in Pinetown was left for hours in a plastic bag because Pinetown Police took hours to arrive on the scene.

Tenants of the centre, who were in shock, said they called the police numerous times without any luck. The body was discovered at about noon and police only arrived at 5pm. The tiny body, that was wrapped in a plastic bag and dumped in a toilet, was found by a cleaner who noticed blood on the floor.

The cleaner, who was shocked and scared, called one of the security guards to check what was in the plastic bag.

One of the tenants said they don’t know how the foetus was left in the toilet as customers have to ask for a key from shop owners to use the toilet. The cleaner moved the foetus from the toilet and placed the plastic bag outside the building as they waited for the police to arrive.
