Rotary clubs prepare for family health days

Three Rotary Clubs from the Highway area will provide free medical services to underprivileged communities in Chesterville, Inchanga and lower Molweni from 2 to 4 April.

FOLLOWING on from the successful Rotary Family Health Day (RFHD) programme last year, the Rotary Club of Westville, will be running a three-day clinic again this year from Wednesday 2 April to Friday 4 April in Chesterville in conjunction with the Chesterville Department of Health, and the local municipal clinic.

This is part of a national programme, which has now become an annual event.

The aim of the project is to promote family healthy living by providing free medical services to underprivileged communities.

These free services include testing blood pressure and cholesterol levels, polio and measles immunisation are carried out as well.

Also included are vital health practices of deworming, nutritional education, HIV testing, TB testing, eye testing and cervical cancer testing, as well as general education in leading a healthy lifestyle.

The clinic will be set up and manned by the Rotary Club of Westville in the Ngilonde Hall adjacent to the existing clinics.

All the medical testing and consultation will be carried out by the Department of Health and its municipal nursing sisters.

The Rotary Club of Inchanga 1000 Hills and the Rotary Club of Kloof will also be conducting clinics at the 1000 Hills Community Helpers Centre in Inchanga and the Lower Molweni Community Centre in Fannin Road.
