Gogolympics attract grannies from afar

Gogolympics had an international flavour.

THE 2014 Gogolympics saw a team of 30 Canadian grannies join forces with 1000 local gogos to compete in a day of fun and respite from the every day drudgery of life.

The event, which is organised by the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust, is in its fourth consecutive year and has become very popular, attracting widespread community participation and media coverage.

The KwaNyuswa area resounded to the sounds of African music, laughter and shouts of joy as the grannies took part in soccer, netball, skipping, tug of war, duck walk, passing the ball and jusksei.
