HPS hosts Zulu Day

Hillcrest Primary pupils put their Zulu language skills to the test.

PUPILS at the Hillcrest Primary School’s Zulu Department held a Zulu Day on Thursday 20 March.

The event was hosted for the first time at the school, and 10 schools participated in the festivities.

The aim of this day was to provide pupils with an opportunity to network with pupils from other schools using the language of IsiZulu.

Pupils were required to read, do poetry and praises in IsiZulu while competing with and learning from each other.

More than 290 pupils attended this special event. Schools who took part included John Wesley, Pinetown Senior Primary School, Roseway Waldorf, ST Mary’s DSG, Kloof Primary School, Mari Stella Girls’ School, Berea Primary School, Sarnia Primary School, Highbury Preparatory School and Umhlanga College.
