Two trucks collide on N2

A truck transporting a dangerous substance raised alarm, after it was involved in an accident on the N2.

THREE commuters were injured, after two trucks were involved in an accident on the N2, North bound, near Westwood Mall in Westville, at approximately 8.30am last Tuesday.

“Upon arrival paramedics found that one truck had rear ended the other truck on the left lane. Paramedics quickly assessed the injured and found that three people had sustained various injuries, with one passenger sustaining serious injuries,” said Garrith Jamieson, of Rescue Care.

The paramedics stabilised the injured commuters and transported them to nearby hospitals.

Firemen, who were on scene, were forced to establish a ‘safety area’, shortly after the accident, as one of the trucks involved in the accident was carrying a dangerous substance.

The entire N2, north bound, was closed for several hours while the contents of the truck’s tank was transferred into another tanker. This caused major traffic congestion, which also affected central Durban.
