Brackenhill community launches watch

Waterfall residents band together to fight crime.

THE Brackenhill Road community in Waterfall have recently launched a neighborhood watch.

Steven King, of Waterfall Crime Watch and SecureLink, assisted the residents with the launch, by donating a set of magnetized street patrol signs (with the SA Community Crime Watch logo), as well as a torch, a tazer, pepper spray and reflective jackets to each of the patrols.

Initially, one of the residents created a Whatsapp group to connect the residents with a social media platform where they could report criminal activities and broadcast warnings. “This initiative, however, was not enough and Steven stepped in and gave direction to the endeavor. He got the community together in a meeting and suggested that daily patrols take place,” said Bell.

A Secure Link patrol vehicle was also sent to accompany the resident patrollers on their initial patrols.

“The community crime prevention initiative was created to curb the alarming escalation in crime in Waterfall and the immediate surrounding areas,” said Lloyd Bell, the treasurer of the newly established watch.

The community of Brackenhill Road would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the work and effort that Steven King and SecureLink.
