Cops shoot teen – no arrests made
Police call for witnesses to come forward.
THREE Pinetown police officers charged for attempted murder after they allegedly fired shots at a young couple have still not been arrested.
According to Lt Bogumusa Manqele, communications officer at the Pinetown SAPS, the case is still under investigation, and only when the investigations are complete, will the arrests be made.
He is also appealing to anyone who witnessed the shooting to please come forward to the Pinetown Police Station.
Meanwhile 18-year-old Sherian Naidoo, who was injured in the shooting, is still recovering in hospital. Her brother, Shaylin Naidoo, said the operation to remove the blood clot from her brain had been successful.
“She is doing much better, her face is still swollen and she has complained of severe pain in her face and body, but is believed to be recovering well,” said Shaylin.
Sherian’s mother, Pravina Naidoo said she is not sure when her daughter will be discharged from hospital. She said the police have not contacted her daughter as yet to give a statement about the shooting that occurred in Westmead on Wednesday, however the family will disclose what happened during the incident only once Sherian is feeling better.
The three police officers were charged for attempted murder after they allegedly fired shots at the young couple in Westmead, Pinetown between 8am and 8.30am on Wednesday 14 May.
