WATCH: Car crash captured live at Comrades
A vehicle crashed into a barrier along the Comrades route just metres away from spectators and athletes.
COMRADES spectators along the route were shocked when a vehicle crashed into a barrier on 45th Cutting heading towards Westville on Sunday, June 1.
Miraculously the accident was caught on live television as SABC 2 reported on the annual ultramarathon.
The car was seen crashing into the barrier, spinning around and hitting the barrier again. Horrified spectators fled as the vehicle approached the barrier, and some only realised what had happened after the vehicle smashed into the barrier.
Within seconds, some of the spectators ran towards the accident scene to assist the commuters.
The driver as well as the passengers in the back seat almost immediately scrambled out of the vehicle.
