A party for Malvern Children’s Home
Focusing on our most vulnerable citizens this Child Protection Weeek.
THE selfless efforts of three women have not only managed to put a smile on the faces of over 30 children at the Malvern Children’s Home, but they have also ensured that the home has domestic and food supplies for a good three months.
Terry Longana came up with the idea to host a party for the children at the home after she noticed that the home was not receiving as much attention as another homes in the area. “There are two children’s homes in the area and the other was getting so much attention whereas Malvern was getting very little. The state of the Malvern Children’s Home is actually worse than the other.”
Terry took to social media network, Facebook where she requested for people to assist with whatever they could, which is when Amanda Strydom and Tracy Thomas stepped in.
Together Amanda and Tracey managed to get toiletries, food hampers, clothes and toys from generous donors. In addition, Tracey secured a R5000 cash donation from Hydrotech Coastal.
Both the cash donation as well as the items donated were handed over at the party.
