Man shot in the head in New Germany

It is believed that a man in his late 30s was shot and seriously wounded in an alleged hijacking in New Germany.

A 39-YEAR-OLD man narrowly escaped death after he was allegedly shot in the head during a hijacking in New Germany last night.

According to ER24 spokesman, Werner Vermaak, paramedics received an emergency call from a distressed patron at a café in New Germany, shorty after 6pm.

The patron reported that another man had “apparently been hijacked and shot in the head”.

“The caller explained that the man stumbled into the café and collapsed on the floor,” said Vermaak.

Vermaak also reported that when ER24 and EMRS paramedics arrived on scene they found the victim lying in a pool of blood.

“He was severely disorientated. Paramedics immediately attempted to stop the bleeding and stabilise the injured man before rushing him off to a nearby hospital,” said Vermaak.

At this stage the circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown. SAPS has so far been unavailable for comment.
