Car engine ripped out in fatal N3 accident
Traffic was severely affected after an accident that left one person dead on the N3 North Bound.

ONE person died and two were injured on the N3 North Bound before Paradise Valley in Westville last night.
Traffic was severely affected as only one lane was open while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
The accident happened at 9.30pm and it took more than three hours to clear the road as the road was open at 1am.
Garrith Jamieson, Rescue Care paramedics operations director said paramedics and other emergency services arrived on the scene to find carnage.
“The cars collided before one of them rolled several times. The entire engine was ripped loose while the car was rolling and was found on the busy freeway.
“The driver of the car was ejected and when paramedics assessed him they found that he died due to the severity of his injuries.
“The two occupants from the second vehicle were treated on scene for minor injuries before being transported to a nearby facility by ambulance,” said Jamieson.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision, however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating.
