Hillcrest Rotary welcomes new president
It was a lavish affair at the Hillcrest Rotary Club's annual induction evening recently.
THE Rotary Club of Hillcrest hosted its annual induction dinner at the Hillcrest Sports Club recently.
It was a grand affair as the Rotarians dressed to the nines as the new president for the next Rotary year was announced.
Bernanrd Gasa, the president for the 2013/14 period handed the title over to the deserving Fred Kroone, who will head up the club for the 2014/15 period. The theme for the next Rotarian year is Light Up Rotary.
The projects the group will head up in the coming year are to create a PC centre at the Khayaqwezi Primary School at a cost of R40 000. They will continue to support Hillcrest High School, Hillcrest Primary School and Fulton School for the Deaf. They will also increase their support at Makaphutu Children’s Village with both financial aid and the youth camps that are run there.
The Rotarians will also continue with its current Youth Leadership project, where they send local children to take part in the many activities and team building exercises at the Spirit of Adventure.
During the evening, Hillcrest High School, Hillcrest Primary School and Fulton School for the Deaf were each handed a cheque of R5000. The Rotarian of the Year award was given to Robby Mamotte and the Project of the Year award was given to Dennis Wesley for his Hillcrest Rotary School Camps.
