Explore your future at Student Expo

Gain further insight into the field you would like to move into by making your way down to the Student Expo in August.

THE Student Expo, aimed at students, school-leavers as well as graduates and parents, will make its way to the Hillcrest Corner on 29 and 30 August.

The event is said to offer potential students and decision makers a 360 degree view of student life as it covers the most important aspects, by gathering key organisations within the tertiary, financial, transportation, accommodation, skills development and training arena into one venue.

The Student Expo is a very beneficial platform for high school pupils, who have not yet decided on a career path.

“The Student Expo was designed to guide, direct and open up a broad range of future possibilities that students could consider.

Those preparing to begin their journey into tertiary education will have the opportunity to gain a better insight into what they are able to study and where,” said Heidi Garbade, one of the directors of Student Expo.

“They will be able to explore options presented by a range of universities and learn how to secure loans, transportation options and manage their finances while living out of home.”

Students will have the chance to meet influential industry leaders and view presentations by various tertiary institutions.

“All of this will assist in gaining insight into the programmes available, as well as where their future careers may lead them,” said Heidi.

She noted that psychometric testing was recommended as it would give students a better idea of which careers would suit their personality type.

Existing and new students will be provided with suggestions on further study options and possible recruitment opportunities locally and internationally. Assistance on putting together a professional CV and learning interview skills will also be accessible.

Parents are able to get more clarity from different universities as well as colleges enabling them to support their children in making major life decisions.

Make your way down to Hillcrest Corner for the exciting careers expo on Friday 29 August from 9am to 6pm or on Saturday 30 August from 9am to 3pm.
