Man severely injured in Kloof accident

A man was hurt quite badly, suffering severe head injuries.

A man is in a critical condition after suffering severe head injuries in an accident this morning in Kloof.

According to Shannon Charles from Vema, who was the first paramedic at the scene, the man believed to be in his late 20s/early 30s was seen by a motorist, lying in the fast lane of the M13 eastbound, near the Maytime Spar exit.

The motorist stayed with him to protect him from being hit by cars until they received assistance.

Vema, Netcare 911 and ER24 were all at the scene to assist.

The man had suffered from severe head and facial injuries which Charles speculated could have been as the result of a fall off the back of a vehicle, rather than him being knocked over by a car, as he had no body injuries.

The identity of the man is unknown as he had no identification on him.

The man was stabilised, before being transported by ambulance to Albert Luthuli Hospital for further care.
