One dead in taxi accident
A taxi driver was killed while a passenger in the taxi was rushed to hospital after an accident involving three vehicles in Pinetown.
A DRIVER was killed and a passenger seriously injured when their vehicle collided with a truck and a light motor vehicle on Hans Dettman Highway in Moseley Park in Pinetown on Saturday morning.
“Paramedics from ER24 were returning to their local station when they came across the incident and noticed the taxi standing on the centre median,” said Werner Vermaak, media spokesman for ER24 paramedics.
The driver was found to be fatally injured while a woman found near the taxi was seriously injured. “Bystanders explained to paramedics that she was flung from the taxi,” said Vermaak.
The woman was treated on the scene and transported to Hillcrest Private Hospital. The drivers of both the light motor vehicle and the truck were not injured. The local SAPS were at the scene and will be investigating.
