Slithering talk at Springside

Snakes are spotted more and more as the snake season starts. If you would like to learn more about snakes and how to identify them, then this talk is for you.

HILLCREST Conservancy is hosting a snake awareness talk as it’s the start of the snake season, when snakes are active in their search for food and partners.

The conservancy invites everyone to a morning of learning more about snakes and how to deal with a snake incident or sighting.

The talk will be presented by by Pat McKrill, author of Getting to Know the Neighbours on Saturday, 22 November

from 9am to 11am at the Springside Nature Reserve, Springside Road, Hillcrest.

Entry is R40 per adult and R20 for children under 12 years.

Topics to be covered on the day include common species recognition, what to do with snakes that come into your gardens and how to overcome fear of snakes.

Property and home owners, tenants and their families, gardeners, domestic staff and service industry staff would benefit from the talk, but anyone is welcome.

Those attending the talk are urged to take their own refreshments to enjoy afterwards in the beautiful setting of Springside Nature Reserve.

There are picnic tables, benches, braai and other facilities available.
