Glodina donates towels

Glodina donates towels to orphans and underprivileged children.

QHAWE Kids, a leadership programme for orphans and vulnerable children recently received a generous donation of towels from Glodina in Hillcrest.

The Qhawe Kids programme is part of Focus on the Family’s orphan care initiative, in partnership with Spirit of Adventure Trust and Clermont swimming pool which began in June last year.

Since then, the programme has been implemented at two of Focus’ orphan care points in Shongweni and KwaDabeka.

Sarah Laing, Focus on the Family Development Director said Qhawe means “victory” in Zulu.

“The programme aims to provide leadership and character-building activities that encourage children to push themselves beyond what they perceive they can do, to claim victory in their lives.

“These activities include swimming, kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling, and obstacle courses. They are guided by certified instructors and mentored by Focus programme manager, Freedom Duma.

Duma said these may have been just towels to an ordinary person but they mean a lot to the children, they will treasure them.

“Donations from companies like Glodina, allows Focus Africa to continue impacting the lives of orphans and vulnerable children through community development programmes like Qhawe Kids.

There are 20 children currently participating in Qhawe Kids, ranging from ages 11 to15 years.

Focus Africa is seeking sponsorships for swimming costumes, sportswear, and a minibus to help provide safe transport for the children to these activities.
