Exciting young adult novels a must read
Two gripping reads, The Legacy and The Legion, are available in all major bookstores now.

LOCAL author, Melissa Delport has tapped into the young adult market in a big way with her thrilling Legacy Trilogy.
The first book in the series, The Legacy, introduces the protagonist Rebecca Dane, a 26-year-old powerhouse playing the role of a doting wife to Eric Dane, the president of the New United States of America.
This is what sets her apart from other South African authors as she has not restricted her book’s location to the borders of our country nor has she bound her characters to the atrocities of our past. She has branched out, reached into new lands and created characters and the problems they face from scratch. It is exciting to read something so different yet also so familiar.
The world Rebecca lives in is slowly introduced and then quickly destroyed during a nuclear fallout. World War Three lasted 12 days, and left the human race on the brink of extinction. There were survivors. These survivors slowly banded together under the rule and guidance of one man, Eric Dane, a man who promised a better and brighter future for all who were willing to fall under his rule. Due to the nature of the land and those affected during fallout and its aftermath, his rule was absolute.
Rebecca’s father was thought to be dead but turned up on her 19th birthday and showed her the light and opened her eyes to the horrors playing on repeat right in front of her. With a new found vigour, she quickly joined the Resistance and set in motion a plan to overthrow the president – by first becoming his wife. Without revealing too much that could be a spoiler for both the first book and the preceding events in the second book – I will leave you with the notion that they are both equally as exciting and fast-paced, well written and thought out. My only gripe I have with the series is the lengthy wait until the final book in the trilogy, The Legend, is released next year.
If you enjoyed The Hunger Games Trilogy or the Divergent Trilogy, this home grown series is a must read. Copies of the book are available at all leading book stores for R150. It is also available in ebook format for $4.79.
