Update: Cars allegedly shot along Bridle Road

Another car struck by something along Bridle Road on Saturday.

Anelda Fouché also had her car hit by an unknown object while travelling along Bridle Road on Saturday, 22 November.

At about 5.25pm, Anelda and her husband were heading towards Forest Hills when they heard a loud bang on the back side of the car near the Kloof Gorge viewpoint.

“We didn’t know what caused it, at first thinking it was a golf ball and with hijackings being so rife everywhere we didnt want to stop and check,” said Anelda.

Once they got to Forest Hills they had a closer inspection of the damage and realised it was much smaller than a golf ball and was probably either a pellet gun or .22 like weapon.

“My husband took the car down Bridle Road again to see if he could see anyone on the properties that could have been taking fun shots but saw no one. The realisation of how dangerous it was only dawned on me later. The shot hit my car directly above my petrol tank, but if it had come through my window, my husband or myself could have been seriously injured due to an accident or worse.”

They reported the incident to the Hillcrest SAPS and the Kloof, Waterfall and Forest Hills Neighbourhood Watches and met up with Freek, whose car was also shot, and Sam a Kloof Street Patroller on the Sunday in Bridle Road.

“Inspecting the way the “pellet” hit our cars we estimate that the culprit was sitting by the substation at the top of the hill or in the property next to it. Makes my blood boil that someone would take cheap shots at cars like that. Just hope the culprit is found and someone can prevent this from causing a serious accident.”

“It’s amazing how putting our experience on Upper Highway Info led to about four other cases being reported.”
