Stay clear of Harry Gwala/Booth Road

QUEENBURGH Crime Watch reported an alert for motorists to stay clear of Spine Road (near The Pavilion) as the municipality and security are present and armed with non-lethal weapons. The alert said a riot is expected and urged motorists to use alternative routes as the current situation is unclear.

However, according to Sgt Stephen Clark, communications officer at Westville SAPS, there is no riot. Instead, the Land Evasion Unit is moving illegal shack-dwellers from the Roosfontein Nature Reserve on Harry Gwala Road near Westville.

He said Metro Police are in attendance and the situation is under control.
