Update: Animal hoarding case remanded

The case has been remanded.

The Kloof & Highway SPCA’s case against the couple accused of animal cruelty has been remanded until Thursday, 19 March at the Pinetown Magistrates Court as the male co-accused needs legal aid.

The couple appeared in the Pinetown Magistrates Court on Friday, 6 March on seven counts of Animal Cruelty, in terms of 2 (1)(e) of the Animal Protection Act, in failing to provide veterinary treatment after the Kloof & Highway SPCA confiscated 17 dogs, four cats, two pigs, two rats, two snakes and one mouse from their rented property in Escombe in November 2014.

In a similar vein, the Durban and Coastal SPCA’ case against the female accused as been remanded until Wednesday, 11 March at the Durban Magistrates Court.
