‘Tremor’ sends shockwaves through Highway area

Residents from the Highway area claimed they experienced an earth tremor last night.

REPORTS of a possible earth tremor went viral on social networking sites last night, with residents from most parts of the Highway area posting about their experiences.

According to posts on the Upper Highway Facebook page, the apparent tremor felt like an explosion had occurred. While residents claimed they heard thunder, felt a slight vibration and saw their windows rattle, others in some parts of the area said they were not affected by the ‘tremor’.

Forest Hills resident, Sharon Trollip, said she felt the tremor around 10pm. “I heard a loud rumble and suddenly everything started shaking because of the vibration. It lasted for a few seconds, but it was the scariest feeling, because I could hear a loud noise approaching. My heart goes out to the people in Nepal, I can’t imagine what they must be going through.”
