Rottweiler breed show returns
Residents are encouraged to attend the upcoming annual breed show.
THE Natal Rottweiler Association will be hosting its 27th annual breed show at Gelofte High School on 13 and 14 June and the community is encouraged to attend and enjoy the festivities. This year, the club has secured the services of international judge, Carsten Henriksen, from Denmark. Henriksen is experienced and knowledgeable, having judged at the IFR World Show, and much can be learnt from him about the Rottweiler breed.
Founded in 1973, the club is affiliated to the Kennel Union of Southern Africa and the club’s goal is to promote the Rottweiler breed through educating its members on responsible ownership, as well as provide training and socialising of dogs, to ensure Rottweilers are balanced members of society. They also aim to educate and advise prospective buyers on the importance of buying puppies from reputable breeders and the responsibilities of owning a Rottweiler.
The show attracts exhibitors from around the country, with about 80 to 100 Rottweilers being entered.
The club’s secretary, Bernice Uys, said, “We are proud to have Royal Canin and Gelofte High School as long-term partners of this event. Due to the high costs and difficulty of hosting such an event, we are appealing to our local companies and individuals for further support.”
