Earlier today, Eskom announced that it had implemented stage 1 load shedding, which was set to continue from 9.30am until 10pm in the evening.
This escalation in blackouts is due to increased electricity demand and shortage of generation capacity.
“As we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country, we urge electricity users to consider energy-efficient ways of keeping warm,” Eskom said in its statement.
It went on to say that consumers are being urged to use electricity sparingly.
The stage 2 power cuts will last until 10pm this evening.
#PowerAlert: #Load_shedding will move from stage 1 to stage 2 at 16h00 to 22h00 today.
