POLICE arrested one of the two men who are linked to a spate of business robberies in Clermont and KwaDabeka.
According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, the KwaDabeka Field Unit and Pinetown Tactical Response Team police were on duty on Saturday, 26 September when they received information about the whereabouts of the two men.
“Police proceeded to a house in 34th Avenue and one man ran away, dropping his gun. The second man allegedly came out of the house and fired shots at the police and police returned fire, and he was injured on his hand,” said Manqele.
Two firearms with ammunition were recovered and the man (25) was taken to hospital.
He added that the guns will be sent for ballistic tests to establish whether they were used in the commission of other crimes in the country.
