The IEC had posted results from only three voting stations in the Ward, which includes Summerveld, by the early afternoon on November 5.

THE DA took an early lead in Ward 103 as of 14:35 on Thursday (November 5), as vote counting continued, with the IEC, at the time of publishing, having posted results from the Polo Pony Fields and Pentecostal Church voting stations.

By 15:14, results from the Cliffdale Health Clinic voting station were shared on the IEC’s results dashboard, with the MK Party recording 1875 votes, the ANC with 500, and the DA with 117 votes.

Results from the Pentecostal Church voting station saw the MK Party in the lead with 258 votes, followed by the DA with 84 votes, and the ANC with 78 votes.

The DA garnered 2510 votes at the Polo Pony Fields voting station, followed by the ANC with 220 votes and the MK Party with 118 votes.

The results from nine more voting sations, namely the House of Prayer; Drummond Health Committee; Botha’s Hill Tourism Centre; Qadi Community Hall; Gwadu-Zenex Primary; KwaNyuswa ZCC Church; Botha’s Hill School; Mnamatha School; and St Lawrence; were yet to be posted on the IEC’s results dashboard.

The ward includes the Summerveld area, whose residents, ahead of the Local Government Elections, had raised concerns about the poor state of the local roads, with members of the equestrian community calling for a permanent solution to a situation which at times has some locals filling in potholes themselves along the roads that are bumpy when driven on.

The ANC currently holds the councillor position in the ward. The final results for this year’s elections are yet to be announced.
