Christmas party for Rock of Hope Crèche

Most of the children at the créche are from impoverished backgrounds.

THE Rock of Hope Crèche children in the Shongweni Valley enjoyed a Christmas party sponsored by Marriott Asset Management.

The 65 very excited children, most from impoverished backgrounds, were each given a bucket containing a packet of FutureLife porridge, chips, cooldrink and sweets to take home. They also received toy cars for the boys and dolls for the girls.

Marriott has been assisting the school since 2009. Besides the yearly Christmas parties, they have created a large vegetable garden on the grounds – allowing the caregivers at the school to prepare fresh vegetables as part of the children’s lunch. Marriott staff also visit the crèche once a month to celebrate the children’s birthdays.

Principal, Theresa Maduna, was very grateful for the support, and said the children were all thrilled to receive presents. “The children had been looking forward to the party for months; it is a big highlight in our year.”
