Botha’s Hill business robber arrested

The Police Commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal thanked the CPFs for their dedication in fighting crime and working together with the police.

ONE of the men believed to be terrorising businesses in Botha’s Hill was arrested on Thursday by Hillcrest SAPS members, the Shongweni K9 Unit and members of the Community Policing Forum.

According to KZN police spokesman, Brig Jay Naicker, police received intelligence via the CPF about two men who were spotted carrying stolen goods.

“Police mobilised various units to the area and were able to track them down. The men fled on foot after spotting the police. One man was arrested and the other managed to escape.”

Naicker said it is believed that the arrested man is linked to a number of burglaries in Botha’s Hill and surrounding areas.

The Police Commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal, Lt-Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni, commended the police for their diligence in nabbing this man.

“We appreciate the assistance provided by the community through the CPF. Criminals must realise that members of the community will not allow them to operate freely in their neighbourhoods and that they will be reported to police.

“We once again appeal to our communities not to buy stolen and counterfeit goods as it contributes to criminality,” she

said.
