Support CANSA Shavathons this weekend

This year, patrons will be able to spray, stencil and shave their hair as a pledge of their support, at any local shopping centre in the Highway area.

SUPPORT CANSA by participating in the various Shavathons in the Highway area this weekend.

Christian’s Village Centre are holding a Shavathon at their premises at the intersection of Old Main Road and Inanda Road in Hillcrest on Saturday, 27 and Sunday, 28 February from 9am to 1pm. There are lots of activities, spin-the-wheel and lots of prizes to give away.

Pinecrest Centre in Pinetown will host the annual Shavathon on Saturday, 27 and Sunday, 28 February. People are invited to show their support toward this worthy cause for a cancer survivor. Donations for adults are R50 and R25 for children under 12. Supporters can go with their families and either shave or spray their hair.

Sandy Centre in Pinetown and the Colony Shopping Centre in Hillcrest will also host the Shavathon on Saturday, 27 February from 8am to 2pm. Everyone is welcome to support this worthy cause.

Watercrest Mall invites Highway residents to go along and support the cause. Take your family members, friends or colleagues to shave or spray in solidarity with cancer survivors on Saturday, 27 February from 9am to 3pm. Adults can shave or spray their head for a donation of R50 (or more) and children under 12 pay R25.

You can also show your support by purchasing a CANSA Wrap or making a hair donation which will be used to make wigs for cancer survivors. This event will be taking place in the Watercrest Mall food court.

The Pavilion Shopping Centre will hold its Shavathon at the Fountain Court this Saturday, 27 February from 9am to 5pm and Sunday, 28 February from 11am to 4pm. Adults can shave or spray their head for a donation of R50 or more,children, under 12 years old, pay R25 and head wraps (bandannas) will also be sold on the day. Funds raised will contribute towards CANSA’s care and support programme in Durban to support this community to help fight cancer as well as assist with cancer education programmes, patient care and support in the form of 12 Care Homes in the main metropolitan areas for out-of-town cancer patients, 30 CANSA Care Centres that offer stoma clinics, 9 Mobile Health Clinics, medical equipment hire as well as toll-free line and support. Apart from all the spraying and shaving, there will also be awesome entertainment between 11am and 2pm on both days.

You can shave your head, spray your locks with a bright colour or stencil your hair at Suncoast Shavathon and of course, make a donation. Suncoast. Those wishing to take part are requested to pay a R50 donation fee, while children under 12 need only pay a R25 donation fee. It will be heart-warming for those with longer hair to know that if they decide to make the chop and donate their locks, the hair will be sent to a wig manufacturer who creates wigs from human hair for cancer survivors who lose their hair during treatment.
