Joselyn celebrates 100 years of life
In the year she was born, the light switch was invented and the Eiffel Tower was the regarded as the tallest building in the world.
HILLCREST resident, Joselyn Louvain Orsmond, celebrated her 100th birthday on Tuesday, 1 March.
The mother of two was born is Stutterheim in the Eastern Cape and lived most of her life in Port Shepstone with her husband, who died 39 years ago. She never remarried. In Port Shepstone, she worked for the municipality until retirement. Her favourite pastime was playing bowls.
She moved to Durban 38 years ago to be nearer to her family. Joselyn has seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and is a great great-grandmother of two.
“She lived with her grandchildren around her for most of her retired life,” said Devlin Lindeque, one of her grandchildren.
She loves whisky and has a sweet tooth, but said that the secret to her longevity was her love for the Lord, and each night before bed she prays.
Joselyn celebrated her 100th birthday with her family, eating cake and drinking champagne, while she opted for some whisky.
