Couple robbed of R120 000 outside Westville bank

Westville SAPS are investigating a case of armed robbery.

A WESTVILLE couple was robbed of R120 000 outside FNB on Lancaster Terrace in Dawncliffe on Tuesday, 12 April at around 10.30am.

Police KZN spokesman, Maj Thulani Zwane, said a man and his wife were going to the bank to deposit money. While walking towards the bank entrance, they were approached by four unknown men, one armed with a gun.

“They took his bag containing an undisclosed amount cash and the couple’s iPhones and fled the scene in their gateway vehicle, a silver Toyota RunX. No injuries were reported. A case of armed robbery was opened at Westville police station for investigation,” said Zwane.

The iPhones were tracked to some bushes about a kilometre away, but there was no sign of the cash. Zwane said no arrests had been made yet.
