Roadworks continue in Durban

The Integrated Rapid Public Transport Network's GO!Durban construction will resume on Monday, 16 May.

ETHEKWINI Municipality and the eThekwini Municipality Management Taxi Council (EMMTC) have reached an agreement

to cooperate and ensure that work on the Integrated Rapid Public Transport Network’s GO!Durban construction continues.

The GO!Durban construction was put on hold for the past few weeks as a result of aggrieved groups within the taxi industry and workers of the contractors.

Their disputes included their inclusion in the GO!Durban project and payment schemes of workers with their contractors.

“The outcome is in the best interest of eThekwini residents and further reinforces the city’s commitment to develop an efficient and reliable public transport system,” said eThekwini Municipality’s head of communications, Tozi Mthethwa.
