Service station robbers nabbed

Police are following leads to make further arrests.

FOUR men aged between 25 and 30, believed to be linked to business robberies that occurred at a service station in the Upper Highway area, were arrested by the Pinetown SAPS Trio Task Team on Thursday, 22 September.

According to Captain Nqobile Gwala, KZN police spokesman, the Trio Task Team conducted an intelligence operation aimed at arresting criminals responsible for business robberies in the early hours of yesterday morning.

“Three men were arrested while they were travelling in a vehicle that was involved in a business robbery and they were found in possession of two unlicensed firearms. Another man was arrested at his home and was found with the victim’s cellphone that was taken during a robbery,” said Gwala.

Gwala added that the recovered firearms had its serial numbers filed off and it will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain whether they were used in the commission of any crime in the country.

The men will appear in court soon. Police are still conducting investigations and are following positive leads on further alleged criminals.
