One dead, three injured in Highway accidents

One man died in a Pinetown accident and three others were injured in Westville.

A MAN died when his vehicle rolled off Intake Road in the Klaarwater area in Pinetown last night.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24’S spokesman, the man was believed to be in his 40s. Paramedics found the man’s body lying near the road while his vehicle was at the bottom of an embankment. Meiring said the man’s multiple injuries were fatal and was declared dead on the scene.

“It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and roll down the embankment,” said Meiring.

In a separate accident, three people were injured when a car and truck collided on the N3, Pinetown bound before the Pavilion Shopping Centre on Wednesday evening at about 8pm.

Rescue Care’s paramedics attended to the three wounded passengers in the vehicle. The truck driver was uninjured.

“They were stabilised on the scene by advanced life support paramedics before they were transported to various Durban hospitals,” said Garrith Jamieson, operations director at Rescue Care.
