Gospel concert set to help church raise funds
Member of the church, Mduduzi Khanyile said that the 105 year old church's current structure is old and has deteriorated.

THE Congregational Church of Queensburgh is currently embarking on various fundraising initiatives to renovate and extend its building. The church located on 29 Coronation Road, Malvern was built in 1911 and seats 250 congregants currently.
“Our current capacity is too small to accommodate our 500 plus members and as a result, this poses a challenge of overcrowding. We’ve found it difficult to host our regular members as well as visitors. This is why we’ve felt the need to do the renovations,” explained fundraising committee member, Mduduzi Khanyile. Khanyile added that the 105 year old church’s current structure is old and has deteriorated.
“There are plans in place to renovate and extend the church to a 600 seater with the estimated costs at R9.6 million. The church has embarked in various fundraising initiatives one of them being a music and worship concert on Friday, 30 December. We’ve basically divided ourselves into smaller groups with the task to come up with different ways to raise the funds,” he said.
The concert will feature Gospel artists Andile Mbili and Thulani Ga Ndlela. Tickets to be sold at the church on the day of the concert at R150 each. Khanyile added that they are accepting donations of any kind that will help towards the renovations.
