Foundation helps fill bellies with yummy breakfast
The Robin Hood Foundation, in partnership with a host of organisations and businesses, helped uplift more than 700 learners on International School Meal Day recently.
INTERNATIONAL School Meals Day is a unique, international campaign which aims to raise awareness of good nutrition for all children regardless of their circumstances.
The Robin Hood Foundation partnered with the Future Life Foundation which provided a breakfast of FutureLife porridge to nearly 700 learners at Lalelani Primary School recently.
“Nearly one fifth of children go to school every day without breakfast and with nearly 40 per cent of families in South Africa living below the bread-line, many South African’s cannot afford to eat never mind eat healthily,” said Kim Griffith Jones of the Robin Hood Foundation.
The learners also received care packages filled with fruit, soup, tea and a beautiful new blanket to keep of the autumn chill, generously donated by Hillcrest FoodLovers, Floyds Foods and Joekels Tea Packagers.
Cindy Norcott, chairman and founder of The Robin Hood Foundation, said, “This was such a special project to be part of. So many children arrive at school without having breakfast, the one meal that is imperative for preparing your body and mind for a day of learning.”
We are so grateful to all our sponsors and volunteers, as well as the ladies at Christian Social Services for facilitating our visit enabling us to bless these children today.”
