Innovative star learners bring home the medals

All five learners brought home bronze, silver and gold medals. Ayush Chunilall and Sashen Naidoo’s project received the Top Science Project and Information Technology Project award.

FIVE learners from Star College, Westville recently participated in the Annual Project Olympiad held in Bucharest, Romania.The Olympiad was open to learners across the globe and more than 500 learners sent applications with their projects and only 350 entrants were invited to represent their country and projects.

Projects were classified into categories ranging from science, information technology to engineering.

There were a total of 350 projects from 46 different countries.

The South African KZN Team from Star College applied with the following three projects: a science project – Eco-Tech Watering; an Information Technology project – The Communicator and an Information Technology engineering project – 3D Printed Articulated Intelligent Robot.

The team consisted of educator, Tahir Denli and learners: Shravan Mahadev, Colwyn Thomas who received two bronze medals, Tharanya Pillay who received a silver medal, Ayush Chuniall and Sashen Naidoo who received two gold medals.

Ayush Chunilall and Sashen Naidoo’s project received the Top Science Project and Information Technology Project award. The school staff are so pleased at these great achievements by the learners of Star College.
