Establishment of Moses Mabhida ring-fenced business unit
ETHEKWINI full council approved a report calling for the establishment of the Moses Mabhida and stadia ring-fenced business unit on 28 June.
This is in line with council decision of 8 December 2016 where a new resolution was adopted on the long-term institutional arrangement of Moses Mabhida Stadium and the need to expedite the process.
Council approved the creation and implementation of the organogram of the Moses Mabhida Stadium, and five other stadia, with implementation aimed for 1 July.
A report tabled at an Executive Committee meeting on 27 June outlined the background of the decision.

It said the Moses Mabhida ring-fenced business unit structure would ensure sustainable management of stadia by maximising socio-economic opportunities through delivery and management of events.
The new structure will see a head, two deputy heads and a senior manager among the top structure. There will be 175 posts in total.
The recommended structure makes provision for two core functions: commercial and events services and operations and facilities management services.
The implementation of the recommendations in the report will incur a projected annual expenditure of R52 364 259.
The cost of the funded posts is R45 257 036 with the additional expenditure being R7 107 223 to be sourced through the adjustment budget.
New branding and logo for eThekwini
AUTHORITY has been given to city manager, Sipho Nzuza, to rebrand eThekwini Municipality brand.
A task team coordinating the branding process, would ensure that maximum community participation.
Chairperson of the Governance and Human Resources Committee, councillor Barbara Fortein, said this was more than just about rebranding the City and having a new logo.
“It is about the people who elected us as the new administration, feeling as if they are a part of this City,” she said.
#I Love My eThekwini Civic Pride Campaign
THE project, given the green light, aims to set the agenda for positive engagement with communities and set a radio campaign, that includes listeners responding on eThekwini social media platforms while building an online presence and being in charge of the conversation.
These initiatives are supported by the City Talk Initiative which was also approved at Full Council.
The ‘Your City Talks’ brand awareness campaign is aimed at City residents to tell positive, inspiring news and developments about their communities and the City.
This will be achieved through the production of monthly video footage which will be streamed through the Municipal YouTube and social media channel.
