The Grade 8 to 11 budding scientists from the Life Sciences and Physical Sciences learning areas, intrigued staff and visitors with their projects.

The learners showcased their scientific research and impressed the many highly acclaimed judges from UKZN, as well as science teachers from local schools.

The judges were captivated by the science learners’ exhibits which ranged from the use of fertilisers, genetic engineering, floating farms, understanding photosynthesis, water surface tension and magnetic repulsion to enzymes and the use of antacids.

The learners will now go on to compete at a provincial level at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists which takes place in mid-August.
